Our Employment Model
Akola is an employment-focused nonprofit built on a simple belief: sustainable opportunity is created through dignified work.
We do not operate on a model of short-term relief. Instead, we build long-term stability through consistent employment, professional training, and market-driven growth.
Our mission is rooted in economic sustainability, creating jobs that generate income, restore dignity, and strengthen families for generations. Learn more about who we a

How Akola Creates Jobs
Akola’s model is powered by commerce.
1. Sales-Driven Revenue
Every purchase fuels employment. Jewelry sales generate the revenue that sustains wages, operations, and expansion.
2. Artisan Employment Structure
We directly employ women artisans within our vertically integrated production facilities in Uganda. This provides consistent wages, skill development, and long-term professional opportunities, not temporary contracts.
3. Financial Sustainability
Because our impact is revenue-driven, growth in sales directly expands employment capacity. As demand grows, jobs grow.
Commerce becomes the engine of empowerment.
Why We Don’t Rely on Donations
While we are a nonprofit organization, our core operating model is not donation-dependent.
Donations can be generous and meaningful, but they do not create scalable economic systems. Sustainable employment requires consistent revenue streams, and that is why we prioritize sales as the driver of impact.
This model ensures stability, accountability, and long-term growth.
For those who wish to contribute beyond purchases, donation opportunities are available in our footer.
